As Microsoft announced it during the E3 2012, the company is bringing Bing, Internet Explorer and a lot of new media apps to the gaming console, including:
- Live sports programs with the key addition of NBA TV, NHL TV, and WatchESPN with videos from ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN 3, and ESPN U.
- a wider movie library with contents from Paramount, Nickelodeon, Machinima, and Univision (joining the 35 existing media currently offered on the Xbox 360).
Furthermore, Microsoft stated other launchings as voice controls for Bing and Internet Explorer, Xbox Music (this summer) and Xbox SmartGlass.
The Xbox isn’t a computer in the living room – that will probably never happen – but it does bring the best of the web to the biggest TV in the house in a way not possible with the cable box.
