A games console that has still everything to prove!
A few years ago, the Japanese firm Nintendo had a hard time. Indeed, Nintendo 64 dit not really seduced the public (in spite of its innovative concept and its game library); as for Game Cube, it dit not better in terms of sales. The old videogames leader had then to be clever and they also had to be one step ahead their competitors (Sony and Microsoft).
Then, in 2005, they release their new DS console, which is immediately a success, essentially thanks to its added value to the game play. One year later, Wii has to show what it is made of and, once again, Nintendo get tough hardly. This time, the player is no longer a spectator, but an actor in the centre of the game, with the famous movements concept (that will be used and improved by Microsoft, with the Kinect device). Building on this great success, the company releases their 3DS (to ride the 3D trend) in 2011 and their Wii U in 2012.
On top of integrating once again the movement to the game play, Wii U also integrates the gamepad, which literally gives a new point of view to the player. However, the games console is not being sold well, for various reasons: the game library is not very attractive (you will have to wait for the big games to be released), the first Wii still remains in minds, and prices are too high… Nintendo has still plenty of work and can then remain hopeful that Wii U will be a success.
Censorship even exists on Nintendo!
Remember: a few months before, we talked to you about the way of installing a VPN service on your 3DS and on your Wii. Today, we are going to explain how to use a VPN on your Wii U.
But first, you need some explanations on what a VPN and an IP address are.
Concerning the IP address, it is simply a way to identify you on the Internet, when you connect to a network. From that, your IP corresponds to the country where you are (or live) and changes then. To give you an example: you are in the United States, so you have an American IP. On the contrary, you live in England, so your IP address is English.
In some cases, the IP needs to be modified, especially when it’s about unlocking some contents. For that, you need what we call a VPN service.
What is it? It’s simply a software to install on your computer. The three letters means “Virtual Private Network”. The VPN has several functions:
- Changing your IP address.
- Browsing the web confidentially and anonymously, to avoid that your data leak (apart from your new IP that you will have chosen before).
- Securing your Internet connection, so hackers don’t hack your data.
Installing a VPN service on the Wii U
You only need to follow these four steps:
- Begin to connect your videogames console to the Internet, with the manual configuration if it is necessary.
- Identify and find your IP address.
- Go on your Wii U’s control panel.
- Finally, activate your VPN and that’s it.
Before installing and configuring your VPN service, we invite you to look at the chart below, which is a selection of the best VPN providers, who offer you many IP addresses.
