Our code monkeys have been busily working away to produce, in all likelihood, the best router VPN solution that has ever existed. Today, we’re pleased to pull the covers off our DD-WRT specific router VPN application, and we think you’re going to be amazed! Produced in collaboration with our good friends over at FlashRouters, who’ll be marketing pre-configured VPN routers and shipping these devices worldwide, this application will allow you to connect to any of our VPN servers (in over 30 Countries world-wide) at a simple click-of-a-button. There is no need to install any software for (or even configure) the devices you plan to use with it. That’s right folks – think PS3, Wii, XBox360, AppleTV2, Roku… the list is nigh on endless… all these are now fully compatible with OverPlayVPN! Installation, as you’ve come to expect from OverPlay, is so simple. Just download the configuration application (or if you’re feeling hardcore, you can even install manually), enter the router details, click ‘Install’ and away you go. We’ll run through all the steps needed in a few moments. Firstly, an overview of what we have here: 1) A Dlink DIR-825 router, with DDWRT ‘std’ installed – you’ll be able to use many other routers; basically it just needs to be able to run DDWRT, later than version svn13309, and containing OpenVPN. 2) An internet connection – in our case we’re connected to a cable-modem via the ‘Internet’ port on the router Generally speaking, the installation of DDWRT, and the initial configuration of the router is beyond the remit of this guide – it’s normally fairly simple, but will require some basic knowledge of TCP/IP. If this scares you, dont worry!, you can get in touch with FlashRouters, and have them ship you a shiny, pre-configured, and supported router – nothing could be easier! |
